SEARCH the SCRIPTURES(b)
Search the Scriptures"-John 5:39
Searching the Scriptures
Is not scratching the surface
But digging really deep
Like a miner with his search light.
Search like you’re searching
For silver and gold, precious jewellery.
Put on your goggles, wear your boots
Overturn each stone, examine every hole
Look into all nooks and crannies.
Digging takes time and effort
But it will eventually pay off
Never mind the stumbling block
Come to discourage you as you dig
Use it as a stepping stone to help you rise
Invest your time and the dividend will come
The profit will be evident and so the interest.
Your harvest will surely come as you wait.
Search the scriptures.
They reveal the Saviour
Make you wise, teach you to rise
And see through God’s eyes
They give meat to the mature
Light of life, songs in the night
And milk to the babe
And bread to infant and adult
And water to all who come.
Search the scriptures
It is a shop full of goodies
Like mirror of life Compass of life
Helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit
Breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth
Shoes of the gospel, hidden manna
exceedingly great and precious promises
God’s glorious inheritance in the saints.
Who you are in Christ and what you have
A foretaste of heaven on earth.
Use the candle of the Holy Spirit
Search for the gems galore hidden
For those who are diligent, adamant
Undeterred by falls, hard knocks
Let the Helper help you in your search
Employ Him, dig with Him
Dig in the morning, dig in the afternoon
Dig in the evening and even at night
Focus on Jesus and treasure your find
Share your find to increase its yield.
Dig deep even when the doors are shut
And the vaults seem barred to you
You can take a break but always come back.
Dig with anticipation and assurance
Dig with excitement and determination
Dig with faith and hope
Dig alone and dig with others
Dig even in places you have dug before
You may find new gems from old crust
That’s’ why His mercies are new each morning.

Re: SEARCH the SCRIPTURES(b)
Fenny, very clever the way you merged both of these.
I enjoyed the flow and emphasis on the WORD throughout.
Lovely poem. EXALT!

Re: SEARCH the SCRIPTURES(b)
The last but two lines of the poem is wonderful, because I always feel that reading the same familiar lines the next instance gives me a new thinking and probably means differently. What a beauty to say that "In the begining there was the word and the Word was God........!!!WARRIOR wrote:Fenny, very clever the way you merged both of these.
