Generosity is Magnanimity
Generosity is magnanimity and brings prosperity
As you open your heart and your hand
Giving to the poor in need from your plenty
You are sowing a good seed obeying God’s command.
But as you give also teach them to learn to fish
So that tomorrow they will also give
As they have also learnt to flourish,
and dishing the garb and robe of a slave.
Be liberal in thinking but also liberate
Those who’s thinking have been warped
Teach them the joy of being able to create
Ridding themselves of the corrupt
Hand-out mentality kills ingenuity and creativity
Deadens the mind, maintains a vicious cycle
Squanders appealing and glaring opportunity
keeping some people in their nappy and on the bottle.
7 If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. 8 Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs. 9 Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: "The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near," so that you do not show ill will toward your needy brother and give him nothing. He may then appeal to the LORD against you, and you will be found guilty of sin. 10 Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. 11 There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land. Deut15:7-11
Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor, And for lack of justice there is waste. Prov13:3
Re: Generosity is Magnanimity
Too bad we don't practice this 7th year debt forgiveness in this country. It sure would make everything freer. I am sure the Lord gave it to us for a reason. Beautifully written. tc
