First Impressions 1 Empty First Impressions 1

First impression counts
Wherever you go
As a friend or foe.
Like in an interview
As Gentiles or Jews.

So as true ambassadors,
We should be good adverts
To show we are good converts
Who walk as He walked
And talk like He talked.

But we need to also know
That it is not by our might
Change comes as we submit.
Change comes not just with visit
But as abiding in the Word and in the Spirit.

Yes, just as first impression counts,
First impressions can also deceive.

We can fool others by our first impressions
But no one can fool God by their first impression.
We should not be fooled by first impressions
Neither should we fool others by our first impression.

Man looks on the outward appearance
but God looks at the heart.

Let us live in the word and His word in us,
Then we will bear much fruit- genuine fruit
That will not only be a first impression
But a good and lasting impression.
And let us not give the impression
that it is by our might or power or that we are perfect
but that it is by the grace of God we are what we are.

Let us not give the impression that we have arrived
But that we are work-in-progress needing the grace of God day by day to walk how He walked, talk as He talked, think as He thought as we renew our minds.

Let us keep company with Him so that people will know that we have been with Jesus.

May our first impression be good and lasting impression, like an aroma, rising to the glory of God.
May we also see through the eyes of God and not be deceived by first impressions that will hold no water, first impressions that magnify the power of the devil and undermine the power of God. May we see God for who He is- All-powerful, Ever –present and All-knowing- regardless of what we see in the natural. May we see possibility through seeming impossibilities and hope in hopelessness situations.

1 Samuel 16:7 (King James Version)
7But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
1Sam.16:7
17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Cor5:17-20
6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1John2:6
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Matt5:13-15
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph5:30
21Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
22Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
23And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Col3: 21-23

Fenny, how we must be reminded we are a walking book, a testimony
for Christ. Yes, we are truly human. We have to shine the spirit not the flesh.
Enjoyed. tc
