Character of Saints
- Attentive to Christ's voice. John 10:3-4 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
- Blameless and harmless. Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
- Bold. Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
- Contrite. Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
- Devout. Acts 8:2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.Acts 22:12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
- Faithful. Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
- Fearing God. Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:Acts 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

- Godly. Psalms 4:3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
- Guileless. John 1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
- Holy. Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.Deuteronomy 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
- Humble. Psalms 34:2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
- Hungering after righteousness. Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
- Just. Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.Luke 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
- Led by the Spirit. Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
- Liberal. Isaiah 32:8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.2 Corinthians 9:13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
- Loving. Colossians 1:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,1 Thessalonians 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
- Lowly. Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
- Meek. Isaiah 29:19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
- Merciful. Psalms 37:26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
- New Creatures. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
- Obedient. Romans 16:19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
- Poor in spirit. Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Prudent. Proverbs 16:21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
- Pure in heart. Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
- Righteous. Isaiah 60:21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
- Sincere. 2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
- Steadfast. Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.Colossians 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
- Taught of God. Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
- True. 2 Corinthians 6:8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
- Undefiled. Psalms 119:1 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
- Upright. 1 Kings 3:6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.Psalms 15:2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
- Watchful. Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
- Zealous of good works. Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
