Human Nature of Christ, The
- Was necessary to His mediatorial office. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? - Conception in the Virgin's womb. Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
- Birth. - Partaking of flesh and blood. - Having a human soul. Matthew 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
- Circumcision. Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
- Increase in wisdom and stature. Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
- Weeping. Luke 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,John 11:35 Jesus wept.
- Hungering. Matthew 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.Matthew 21:18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
- Thirsting. John 4:7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
- Sleeping. Matthew 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.Mark 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
- Being subject to weariness. John 4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
- Being a man of sorrows. Isaiah 53:3-4 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
- Being buffeted. Matthew 26:67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,Luke 22:64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
- Enduring indignities. Luke 23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
- Being scourged. Matthew 27:26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.John 19:1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
- Being nailed to the cross. Psalms 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
- Death. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
- Side being pierced. John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
- Burial. Matthew 27:59-60 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
- Resurrection. Acts 3:15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.2 Timothy 2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
- Was like our own in all things except sin. - Was without sin. - Was submitted to the evidence of the senses. - Denied by Antichrist. 1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
