Today, God made it clear that I wouldn't be the author of my own adventure. He promised an adventure all right but this adventure will be taking me to an unknown place. A place I knew nothing about. I would not be able to prepare with my handy lists and this brought feelings of uncertainty.
The adventure began as I was journaling my prayers. I started writing and the words came faster and faster. I didn't think I could keep up with the flow but I did. All of a sudden, I stopped, "it" stopped and that was that, no more words came. I read what I wrote and realized that what I wrote was a song. "A SONG" - I said out loud with a surprised tone, casually looking around to see if anyone heard me. Why would God give me a song? This is supposed to be an adventure? Quietly, I mumbled "Ok Lord, whatever you want" I replied with a slight feeling of fear. Fear of the unknown was only one weakness of mine, yet I knew by previous experience that God would replace this fear with His peace, like he'd done so often.
I love singing butrather than sounding like a chorus of sweet robins, I make a noise replicating that of a squawking sea gull in pain. Personally, I would tune in to the song of the robin. This adventure continues as I question God about my non-existent musical background. "Lord, I'm not musically inclined. I can not sing. I took band for a year and attempted to learn the clarinet without a great deal of success, as you know. I'm ignorant when it comes to reading and writing music. Why would you use me to write a song? I want to be a blessing to others? None of this makes sense, Lord!" He whispers back a scripture. "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Isaiah 55: 8-9 NLT
I know what I asked and I felt the all too familiar nagging of the Holy Spirit inviting me to be submissive. Without delay, I went to the computer, typed out the song and emailed my "musically gifted" friend, in search for much needed wisdom on what my next step should be in this fearful but exhilarating adventure.
My greatest desire is to be used by God, to be a blessing to others. This, without a doubt is an excursion I'm excited to be on. Thinking about this journey stirs up feelings of anticipation as I wonder what will be around the next corner. I don't have a map, directions or even the destination for this adventure and that's ok. I do know that the Lord is my compass and he will show me which way to go. In my weakness, I know His power will be the miracle and His kingdom will be glorified. (Little old me write a song, ya right)
Here it is...
My King
My savior
You know my mind
You are my God
My ways
And my struggles
You are waiting
For me
You are- waiting
To see
You are waiting
To be - my God
You are here with o-pen arms
You are here to lead the-way
You are here waiting for me my King
I will gladly take your path
I will gladly go your way
I will gladly praise your Holy name
You are waiting
For me
You are- waiting
To see
You are waiting
To be my God
I will gladly take your path
I will gladly go your way
I will gladly praise your Holy name
You are my God
My King
My savior
You know my mind
My ways
And my struggles
You are waiting
For me
You are- waiting x3
For me
You are waiting
To be - my God
I love the Lord and want Him to use me any way He needs too for His Kingdom. I am a wife and mom. I enjoy writing and have just recently started to share.
