John 7:45-53

King James Version (KJV)

45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?

49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

50 Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

51 Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

53 And every man went unto his own house.

The Unbelief of Those in Authority

45 The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?” 46 The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!” 47 The Pharisees answered them, “Are you led astray, you also? 48 Have any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd, who do not know the law, are accursed.” 50 Nicode′mus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, 51 “Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” 52 They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and you will see that no prophet is to rise from Galilee.”

These are my thoughts please share yours.

45 If we were ordered to do something and did not and if diffently knew those who order it wanted it done, we would be slow to come back as well, thinking of a good excuse to tell them.

46 Jesus is and was the Word, He spoke truth.

47 The Pharisees were angry they did not get Jesus. They felt Jesus was a false teacher based on had He preached against their man made traditions.

48 This is a good question. Jesus made such impact and with some of His focus directed towards the Pharisees He may have had influence over some.

49 The two men who carried Jesus's body to the grave they had bought for Him were both Pharisees. They make a judgement on them because they follow after Jesus, this is something that happens still today and in some places they lose their lives because they are Christians. Christianity is not a lack of knowing the law but it is a fact that we have grace because we can not live by the law.

50 Nicodemus was one of the two Pharisees who believed in Jesus, the other being Joesph of Arimathea.

51 Nicodemus wanted Him to be able to speak before the Pharisees as He did with Nicodemus but Jesus had done this uneffectively, their hearts were to hard.

52 Jonah and Nahum both came from Galilee they ignore the truth. They also let their hate of people from that area blind them from the truth. Christians are called Galileans by Jewish people at this point. Jesus was also born in Bethlehem not Galilee.

53 They went away, they did nothing other than talk, no planning or nothing. They may have felt with their being followers of Jesus their it may have been a good idea to make plans. The meet again to plan to kill Jesus and when they do they do not have followers of Jesus their.
