Luke 1:26-29

King James Version (KJV)

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

26 ¶ And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth

27 to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David and the virgin’s name was Mary.

28 And the angel came in unto her and said, Hail, thou that art much graced, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his words and wondered in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

26 Gabriel was also sent to Mary. Nazareth was where she was from even though her ancestor was from Jerusalem, this being David. This shows that people may have not lived in the areas they were promised or entitled to by the scriptures; they were under Roman rule which may be the reason why.

27 Mary was engaged to Joseph and it is very important that she was a virgin because if she had just been a young girl who had gotten pregnant it would not have been a miracle because this happens all the time. It is also important that she was a virgin because it made her a pure vessel for Jesus to born from. It is also important that they were descendents of David because Jesus would need to be to be Christ, the coming King.

28 Mary was the one God chose to carry the Lord and His one Son, the One that would save the world.

29 Women were not often viewed as important to God’s plan. They were often just viewed as companies to their husband in the best cases. God uses women for His purpose just as He does with men, now He may not ask them to do the same things but both are to serve the Lord and ways He leads them to.
