THE TRUE GREATNESS

THE TRUE GREATNESS
ADAM. The first son of God, created from dust,
A creation decreed by the eternal Word
going forth from the Father,
A decree fulfilled by the breath of God, the Holy Spirit.
Life breathed into something lifeless,
Creating the root of resurrection,
As well as Adam.
ADAM, the man.
Never born, never an infant, never a child.
Never anything but strong and capable of living on his own.
So hard to be humble, to lean on his Maker.
That pride—the illusion of greatness—
Seemed to place power within his reach, a thing to be grasped.
JESUS, ‘the last Adam’.
The only begotten, the first born Son of the Father.
Generated from things above, the invisible made visible.
The dust of the earth replaced by heaven’s Word,
made flesh.
Planted by the Holy Spirit,
In the womb of Mary.
JESUS, the Infant, the Child.
Weak, dependent on others for life.
So much easier to be humble,
To lean on the One who still speaks to Him
From heaven.
He had advantages over His brother, Adam.
The advantage of weakness…
And the Word within.
Adam’s pride was finally broken by a Child.
A Child humble enough to enter the kingdom of God -
To let GOD be King, the Most High,
Eager to do the Father’s will,
To speak what He was told to speak.
No grasping… only letting go.
And letting God, His Father, be God.
