Draw Near To God Empty Draw Near To God

Post  dove Sun 04 Nov 2007, 9:13 am

There are numerous scriptures that talk about the word “draw.” The Lord is saying for us to “draw” closer to Him in these last days. It is so important in these days we are living to hear and know His voice. We can only do that through a deep and intimate relationship with God. We can do that by “drawing” nearer to God, which in turn He draws near to us.

The word “draw” has many different meanings. Just a few of the meanings:

(1) to cause to move in a particular direction by or as if by a pulling force; pull; drag
to bring toward oneself or itself, as by inherent force or influence; attract
(2) to derive or use, as from a source: to draw inspiration from
(3) to get, take, or receive, as from a source (God is our source)
(4) to pull out to full or greater length; stretch (grow in the Lord)
(5) Hunting. to search (seeking God with all our heart)
(6) to steep (are we steeping and soaking ourselves in His presence?)
(7) to form or shape by stretching (allow God to form & shape us into His image)
(8) to exert a pulling, moving, or attracting force; i.e., A sail draws by being properly trimmed and filled with wind (God keeps us trimmed (sin-free) and fills us with His Holy Spirit (wind)
(9) to move or pass, esp. slowly or continuously, as under a pulling force (wait on the Lord and He will renew your strength)
(10) to be skilled or practice (practice the presence of the Lord)
(11) something that attracts
(12) something that is moved by being drawn (our hearts should be moving more toward God)
(13) something that is chosen or drawn at random (we are chosen of God)
(14) to come nearer; approach (the closer we get to God, the more we hear His voice and will not follow the voice of another)
(15) to clothe oneself in (clothed in the righteousness of God)
(16) Nautical. (of a vessel) to gain on (another vessel) (Allow God to use us as His vessel to reach this world)
(19) to utilize or make use of, esp. as a source (God is our source)
to pull out; remove (God pulls out and removes sin as we repent and submit to Him)
to persuade to speak (God will speak to us as we draw closer to Him)
