Lesson Plan

Asked to lead Sunday school class, he said that he would.

So he read different Bible texts, but nothing was understood.

He called upon the Lord, time and time again.

But God was silent, with the lesson plan.

He finally found some scripture; he felt could be the lesson.

So he dug into the message, giving God the blessing.

Back and forth from Bible, to Commentary he would go.

But he struggled with the text; the words just did not flow.

Alas he was beside himself, confessing to his wife.

And she gave encouragement, in his time of strife.

He poured back through the scriptures, praying all the way.

But still nothing came, another silent day.

Driving to work he said, “Lord, I don’t mean to nag”.

And there it was in front of him, on a car’s tag.

He got all excited, God’s praises he did scream.

For the car tag read, PHIL 413.

Dear Irv

This is a wonderful poem, other members may not understand it but as once a High School Teacher I know the importance and use of a Lesson Plan, therefore I can relate the whole experience of your life. Indeed a unique and beautiful diction. Although today I woke up early because I love the spring season, and your poem has made this a special day for me. I learnt the following lesson from this poem.
To man belong the plans
of the heart,
but from the LORD comes
the reply of the tongue (Proverbs 16:1)
Indeed God listened to the reply of your tongue and blessed the plan with direction.

May God bless you and your family

Lesson Plan Empty Thank God for Guidance

Thanks, Irv, for this humorous, yet profound truth. We often look for the Lord in the fire, storm or whirlwind but He is in the still, small voice.

Thanks for sharing
