The Gift
Overpowering emotion, anguish appears
Expression of sorrow, shedding of tears
Grieving in the spirit, regretting the sup
Accepting the invitation, drinking of the cup
Distress and sadness, blood droplets fall
Mourning and lamentation, giving for all
On Golgotha, hands and feet nailed
Skies darken, mourners wail
Eyes exude affliction, a tear in his side
Love poured forth, Jesus crucified
Salvation for man, grace and faith uplift
Jesus, Lord and Savior, God’s perfect gift
