Ground Hog’s Day

I heard a song verse; of do you still feel the nails

With thoughts of Jesus suffering; every time we fail

And I’m reminded of a movie; Ground Hog’s Day

Where the same thing happens; over and over every day

And from the movie, my thoughts; return to the cross

Of where Jesus suffered and his precious life was lost

To thoughts of how He could die; over and over again

Of a daily crucifixion; He could suffer for my sin

And I think about His agony; to thoughts of His pain

In the same situation; over and over again

Of hearing the crowd chanting; the word crucify

To the sting of the whips, to the nails, till He dies

Horrifying thoughts of my Savior; stuck in that place

To again and again; He suffers my disgrace

Just then a whisper; of this isn’t how it’s to be

A whisper of a place prepared; especially for me

A blessed assurance; of how in Heaven pain fails

And my Savior’s reassurance; He does feel those nails
