The Place of the Altar
The Place of the Altar
Is a place where you’re altered
To walk differently
Worthy of your calling,
Like Jacob of old;
Where vision unfolds
You begin great things untold.
It is a place of self-denial
A place of sacrifice
As you go on the altar
As a living sacrifice.
Price is paid for the prize
And from the low plain you rise.
It is a place of intimacy and prayer
Where you enquire like David,
‘Shall go? Shall I pursue?
Dimming every noise
You hear God’s voice
To make the right choice.
The place of the Altar
Is a place of frequent pilgrimage
Like Abraham, always building altar
And calling on the name of the Lord.
A place of passionate pursuit
as the deer pants after water.
At the place of the Altar
You inquire in His temple
You hear what He utters
Here you pant after Him
One thing you desire
That you seek, long after
Here you behold His face
At the place of the Altar
He touches you
And transforms you
Never to be the same again
This is where the Schemer
Deceiver, wheeler and dealer
Prince with man. con man
Is changed into a Prince with God,
Carrier of Promise
From generation to generation.
Today, cherish this place
Keep base with this place
Go there and seek His face
And you will obtain great grace
Come out with Great anointing and praise
Going about, doing good, all of your days.
The place of the Altar
Is the place to be!
O that I will find it sweet
Inviting, endearing, enjoyable.
O that I will not develop cold feet
Towards this place any day.
Early in the morning may you hear my voice
Calling on my Maker and my choice.

Jacob Wrestles With God
22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”
But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”
“Jacob,” he answered.
28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[f] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”
29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”
But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.
30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”
31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. Gen32::22-31
One thing I ask from the LORD,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make music to the LORD.
Ps27:4-6
Re: The Place of the Altar
And the priests of Aaron grabbed ahold of the horns on the altar, of the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies.. and offered the prayer there for the assembly....
Yes, the altar is the place to be... for in our hearts we are ever lifting ourselves up to Him...
Blessings.
