- Forbidden. - A characteristic of fools. - CONNECTED WITH
- Pride. Proverbs 21:24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
- Cruelty. Genesis 49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.Proverbs 27:3-4 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both. Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
- Clamor and evil-speaking. Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
- Malice and blasphemy. Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
- Strife and contention. Proverbs 21:19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.Proverbs 30:33 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
- Brings its own punishment. Job 5:2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.Proverbs 19:19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.Proverbs 25:28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
- Grievous words stir up. Judges 12:4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.2 Samuel 19:43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? - Should not betray us into sin. Psalms 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
- In prayer be free from. 1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
- May be averted by wisdom. Proverbs 29:8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
- Meekness pacifies. Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.Ecclesiastes 10:4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.
- Children should not be provoked to. Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.Colossians 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
- Be slow to. Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.Titus 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
- Avoid those given to.
